I just had my new horse off the track done for the second time in 2 weeks. it was the best 80$ i have ever spent! the first thing she said, both times, was that i should have a vet examin the horse. ( i did...) the first session indicated soreness in the back (she thoougt it was the saddle), sore front ankels and feet, sore right hock and both stifles really sore. the left one being the worst. i modified my training, making all the ring work mostly straight lines, got a new ultra rubber pad, had the manager finally drag that darn ring. well, lo and behold...yesterday showed no more back pain, no sorenes in the frint ankels, a bit of soreness still in the front feet, and onl the left hind stifle sore. she suggested to start some light cavaletti work, and next week to start adding a few hills in the field to our ride. she said it will take 3 to 6 months for the "loose " stifle to get strong again. She is coming back in 6 ro 8 weeks to check on our progress and give him another treatment. i am so releived that he is coming out of his bad spell...i was really worried that he would only ever be suitable for trail riding, and she says with the right work, he will be able to all the things i had wanted to do. i have to wait another 3 months before we start jumping. i am in maryland. |
