Should physiotherapist take up (learn) acupuncture in line with physiotherapy to enhance proper treatment & healing/ cure.

Acupuncture can be an excellent adjunct to physiotherapy, as many physical problems are caused by an underlying imbalance in the flow of qi in the meridian pathways. But I would say, that many acupuncture courses are too short and are only geared up for pain relief or symptom treatment. For the very best results it is best to do a longer 3-4 training course which will give you the expertise to really treat and heal problems at their very root. Obviously, this is more expensive, but the rewards are greater in the long-run.

Yes, it is great and there is a growing body of evidence that it is effective and enhances healing

I have seen a physiotherapist for lower back pain and sciatica. I have also seen an acupuncturist for these problems. At least for me, acupuncture brings more immediate, but short term, relief. Physiotherapy, especially the exercises, brings more more lasting relief. The exercises can be done for years if necessary. I know of one physiotherapist in New York City who also is a licensed acupuncturist. I think it is a terrific combination. EDIT: One modality works on the musculoskeletal system, while the other works on the energy system.
