There are several acupuncture points that are known to induce uterine contractions. These points are primarily used to induce labor at the full-term of a pregnancy. They are therefore contraindicated during the pregnancy. Most likely, your acupuncturist used the point, Large Intestine 4 (LI 4). You can read about its use and location in this article: altmd.com/ Articles/ Acupressure-for-Common-Cold Several other points that are also contraindicated include Sp6, UB60, UB67, GB21, and points that are located over the sacrum and abdomen. While your experience of uterine cramping is uncommon, it is not impossible. Mention this experience to your acupuncturist during your next treatment.
